In the past, life has been labeled a game, and being that, it is made up of both winners and losers. Where do we find the true significance or reason for living? If God has created us, and He has, then He must have had a reason for doing so. It seems foreign to me to think that God would create us and then turn us loose to struggle and contend for ourselves. Where do you find anything compelling in such a thought or how could this ever express a Creator that is all about love? Knowing the weakness and inability of man, our continued survival depends upon a righteous and loving God, and to think differently, only goes to show our arrogance and feeble-mindedness. What is our true purpose and how do we learn what is desirable and true? The Devil wants us to follow the ways of the flesh and to capture our hearts and minds he has corrupted what God says is true.
Surely we will never know all that can be known, but if we are wise, we will seek to know those things that pertain to our eternal future. To live for the moment can in no way be fulfilling when by doing so we only consume or destroy those things that are truly virtuous and meaningful. Frivolous acts of wantonness can in no way better our existence and will only lead us into a life of turmoil and despair. If it is our desire to improve or to make life abundant the way God has intended, we must rely upon Him and His eternal promise. We must search for the truth and pattern our lives after His example if we are to have any hope or true security. If life is a game, how do we become winners and not losers? I say again, God, being the loving God that He is, must have had a purpose and reason for creating us. What is that purpose and how do we incorporate it in our daily life? We have all been given the same love and the same ability to allow that love to become our true salvation. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Understanding God’s love is not required when, in human intellect, there are so many ways it becomes impossible to comprehend. By faith accepting God’s love is essential, when without it we will not inherit eternal life through the magnificent sacrifice of God’s Son. We can accomplish nothing of true value without the pardon and assistance of almighty God; and if we are to gain His true favor, we must first through faith become one of His. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
As a child of God the best that I can be is to be considered a useable servant. As a servant, I am not only given the obligation but also the privilege of helping the One that willingly gave everything for me. Being a servant is not compatible or comparable to slavery. Being a servant to my Lord is an action of choice while in slavery my option to assist has been removed or taken away. The characteristic or quality of slavery is attributed to Satan and he willingly enslaves all those that give their allegiance to him. Being a child of God and servant of the King, I have been given all the rights and privileges as a joint heir with Jesus; I have been made a son thru the redemptive blood of Christ the Lamb. As a servant I am required to set an example that will show honor and respect to the One that I represent. To be a servant that will point the lost to the only One that can deliver and sustain them. Suffering with Christ and for His righteous cause will assure my being made to triumph with Him. His triumph is the only true victory and His way is the only way I can gain eternal life (Romans 8:17-18.) GLH
