What is the importance of love? Love is an absolute; nothing can exist without the presence of love. In the beginning, God (who is love, 1 John 8:4) created the heavens and the earth. In His passion and zeal, He poured out His abundance and blessings upon man. Anything that can be considered a blessing must come from God no matter how much we adore it or curse it. To be blessed infers that we have gained favor or have been allowed to prosper. It suggests that, no matter the outcome or end result, we have been enriched because of God’s unconditional love. Love will always provide us a way to obtain those things that are necessary and life preserving, but it will also provide us a way to escape those things that are sinful and life threatening. No matter how we feel or what we choose, love will forever remain, it is up to us to accept or reject its redemptive power and its healing potential. Love has made a way for all humanity to live, a way for us to gain those things offered us by our gracious and holy Creator. If we are to obtain all that love has intended to give us, we must first be willing to recognize all that God has done for our salvation and then be willing to accept it. Love will never redeem those who are proud and unrepentant; it will never become a safe haven for those who are arrogant and unwilling to change. If love is allowed to do all that God has intended, it must become a part of our total being; its cleansing power must be allowed to wash away our many sins and fill our heart’s with passion and determination to live a life that is holy and dedicated to the One we have promised to serve.
