The Ultimate Sacrifice…

The ultimate or prime example of love is God’s love for His Son. That is what makes His sacrifice so amazing and personal, so over-powering and real. It does not make it unbelievable; it makes it the ultimate sacrifice. There will never be anything more amazing or charitable; he gave everything, not things. He gave the one thing that was the most meaningful and precious. God’s intent is and has always been for man to depend upon and worship Him.  He wanted a loving relationship, one that went far past the trivial and the inferior, one that was all about giving and sacrifice. Thee only love that we have was given to us by the Father. Without Him we do not know what true love really is. We are not sufficient in ourselves, we need Him to survive. We are intelligent beings, by what sense or merit? We gain everything from Him. Blame Him, no! He has given us the right to choose and has made it possible for us to have what we choose. If we choose Him, we have everything, if we choose the world we have missed the mark, we have nothing. Our ability to choose is not what is important but our ability to choose what is life-sustaining and good.  “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;  Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible” Hebrews 11:24-27. Choosing to suffer like Moses did was more profitable than to be a prince of Egypt. He wasn’t foolish, he was wise. Choosing the eternal instead of what was temporal. To many the promises of God are only pleasant words; but, to the wise they are eternal life. The arrogant and the proud see only those things this world can offer but the humble and the repentant know when they have been in the presence of the Lord.    GLH
