Security, what is it? Where does it come from?
Recently I was given the opportunity to enter the Publisher Clearing House $5,000.00 a week lottery. Having a lot of instances where I could put that money to good use, I was thinking how nice it would be to win such a contest. It seems that there is never enough money to go around and that there are more causes than cures. The house is in need of repairs; and, the family is in want of what they consider, the necessities of life. The church warrants my financial assistance; and it seems with so many expenses, there is just not enough money to go around.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). As I think about life in general and what God tells us in His Holy Word, I have concluded that life without a Savior is meaningless, if not non-existent; and, that everything that we do must meet the approval of God our Heavenly Father. It doesn’t matter if I receive 5,000 a week or a million, without God, it would all be meaningless and futile. God has promised to meet my needs; and, that is what I have learned to expect and to rely upon. The goodness of God is without measure; but, when He has promised to meet my needs through the gift of His only Son, He will do all that it takes to see it accomplished. There is no one more dependable than God or obedient than His beloved Son, Jesus.
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29). Security, my safety and protection, the obtainment of my daily needs, are found in none other than a Holy and righteous, all-powerful God. He is all that I truly desire and need; He is what my life is really all about. Everything I have belongs to Him. He bought the church with His own blood and it also belongs to Him. Knowing this, I can put my complete faith and trust in Him. Knowing His spotless character and His power and ability to provide, what is there to fear or where do I find any room to doubt? In God, every need will be met and every necessity provided. It is my responsibility to remain true and faithful. Knowing that He has promised to be with me through it all, reassures me and gives me all the confidence I need to rely upon Him. GLH – MYOWNMELODY,LLC
