ALWAYS DOING WHAT IS PROFITABLE…

Interesting Concept …

Even though I must be busy in my service to the Lord, if I am to accomplish His will in my life, I must learn to wait upon Him.  My every thought and motivation must come from Him. “And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:3-4). The difficulties in life come from our sinful nature or our desire to live in rebellion. No matter how good or righteous we might wish to be, everything that happens is the product of choice. I am reminded of my darling granddaughter and our episodes at the store.  “Let’s go this way Papa!” which; most assuredly, is in opposition to the way I have decided or need to go.  I know that she has no concept or idea of what she has chosen for me (us) to do, but her curiosity and her desire to control the situation has caused her to make the “demand” that I follow her lead.  So many times God is telling me the way that I should go, but I choose not to listen and I choose to go the way that this world is telling me to go.  We are always in a battle, we need to be striving to do what is honest and good, but because of our arrogance and pride, we end up fighting the One that we should be listening to.

Doing something because it is the honest and righteous thing to do is rarely considered justifiable within society today; but, doing it because it is right is not the only reason that makes it wise and profitable.  God requires that we do everything to the best of our ability. “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.   Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;  Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;  Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.  Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.  Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.  If it be possible, as much as lie-th in you, live peaceably with all men. (Romans 12:9-18).

As I ponder the truth of His Word, my true potential and abilities, I am made to feel dependent and humble. We do not do things God’s way because His is domineering and demanding; but, because He is wise and all-knowing. A God of infinite wisdom and love, He can show us far more than we will ever see and He can give us those things that generate or secure true happiness and wealth. The true reality of life is that we can accomplish nothing without Him. Everything that we have belongs to Him and because of His unconditional love and favor, He only allows us to enjoy them while we live here on His earth.   GLH  – MY OWN MELODY, LLC  2006 – 2019
