Chapter Twenty-eight: Idol Worship and the Reason to Resist.

I have really never been one who envied, idolized, or looked up to another as a role model or as a person to pattern my life after. I have always been a bit more down to earth and have seen people as people and as human, prone to the same mistakes and indiscretions as I. I feel it to be somewhat risky; or, in many cases, foolish to pattern your life after another fallible human; and, as many have done, excuse their stupid acts simply because you idolize them or think them superior. Needless to say, I am probably in [Read More…]

Chapter Twenty-seven: Eternal Death and Damnation.

Eternal death and damnation is the eternal punishment promised to all those that leave this earth without the forgiveness of their sins. It is that place prepared for those who do not accept His marvelous salvation through His unending grace. Thinking that such a place does not exist or that a loving God would not place one of His children there does not alleviate or eliminate its existence or reality. Our knowledge of hell, as is with all knowledge, is from God; and He alone will determine its final outcome. And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it [Read More…]

Chapter Twenty-six: True Definition of a Fool.

It astonishes me how so many refuse the true promises of God. What amazes me most is one’s refusal of His eternal love. Sin is terminal, and to willingly indulge in it is fatal. I will admit that I am not the most eloquent or the most knowledgeable person that has ever walked this earth, but one thing I praise God for is that I am also not one of the most foolhardy. I could never imagine a life without Him, and even though I have not always been faithful, He has always been faithful to me. This in and [Read More…]

Chapter Twenty-five: The True Magnificence of Eternal Life.

Eternal life. Think for a moment of the magnificence of those words, to spend an eternity with the One who spoke you into being, to spend eternity with the One who, through His ardent love, willingly died to pay your sin debt so that you could live forever with Him. You are not only to be spared the eternal pain and misery of a devil’s hell but to be given the privilege of living forever in a place of eternal joy. What more could there ever be? What more could you ever want? There is nothing in this [Read More…]

Chapter Twenty-four: Faith, the Only Way to Please God.

God has said that without faith in Him, it is impossible for man to please Him. First, how can we find true forgiveness from our sins if we do not have the faith to believe that God is who He says He is? “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). Faith, the ability and desire to believe those realities you cannot see. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence [Read More…]

Chapter Twenty-three: Earthly Wealth Has Nothing to Do With Personal Security.

Many today seek the idol of money for their assurance of a bright, rewarding future. They depend upon wealth to provide not only security but joy, peace, and deliverance. When you examine the truth about massive wealth, I am sure you will find it associated with corruption, lust, deceit, and excessive and unjust power, things that are only temporal, that, in the light of eternity, have no lasting power or benefit. What drives a corrupt, ineffective government to become even more corrupt and ineffective? What can take the love of man for mankind, and turn it into resentment and even [Read More…]

Chapter Twenty-two: A True Loss of Innocence and Integrity.

A So much of this world’s goodness has been put on hold. No more do you see the common courtesies that were an interwoven part of the past. Deals were sealed with a handshake and signed with a spoken word of promise. Words like honesty and truth, both words that have been put onto the list of endangered values, now seem to be no longer relevant. How do you deal with the deep, core things of life without the word truth being exercised? What good is anything that is not “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth”? [Read More…]

Chapter Twenty-one: God’s Willingness to Die.

Because of God’s willingness to die, I have chosen not to doubt or question His leadership but to depend upon His deliverance. Think about it. If He was so willing to die for your sins, why would He not be willing and eager to provide for your daily needs? If He were so willing to die for your sins, why would He not be willing and able to keep you until the day of His return? If He, as God, had not the power to keep what He has redeemed, do you believe that He would have been so willing [Read More…]
